We should really approach this Moorish house on a flying carpet, to prepare for a hearty welcome to a house saturated in the atmosphere of A Thousand And One Nights. Aladdin would be green with envy. Moroccan artisans have spent a great deal of time working on the Casa and returning it to its original Moorish style.

Casa Medina is a perfect combination of 800 years of history, with an environment that allows the past to become tangible, but in a house equipped with every modern comfort.

The entrance is across the front patio and an arcade on pillars. The rough marble steps lead to the marble patio and a giant palm tree, with a view of the sea and surrounding mountains. The balconies, natural stone arcades, archways, columns and crenellations transport you to another world.

The house is a compromise between comfort and atmosphere. To achieve this, we have had to have a great deal made-to-measure. This involved both craftsmen who still practice the old skills. Ultimately, with a united effort and a great deal of enthusiasm, we have created a comfortable house, but clearly with that extra-special atmosphere that makes such a contribution to your holiday experience.

Casa Medina has been renovated in such a way that the various spaces merge seamlessly. While sometimes changing colour or accent, they give an undeniably characteristic and special feel. For this reason, there are fewer doors in this house than you may expect. Where doors are not necessary, we have fitted door openings with hand-made plaster archways, as found in the Alhambra

The open fireplace in the living room has a hand-made natural stone surround. The salmon-coloured Yesso walls are finished with Tadelakt, and contribute greatly to the Moorish atmosphere found throughout the house. The marble floor and Azuleta-coloured wall leading to the upper storey typify the contrast between tradition and modern design that so characterises the Moorish interiors designed by the younger generation.

The living area of course includes a hi-fi system with TV and 40 satellite channels. In order that you can delve further into the Old Andalusian and Moorish atmosphere, you will also find a collection of CDs that reflect among others this style. But don't forget to bring your own favourite music with you! Give yourself the ultimate luxury holiday feeling by creating your own soundtrack to relax in the living room or on the patio.

The living room leads onto the patio. This forms the heart of Casa Medina. Surrounded by the kitchen, living room, Arabic rest house and exotic plants. The patio is a green paradise within the house. Ideal for soaking up the sun, even on a windy day.

Off the living room is the kitchen. Finished in red travertin tiles it has a red granite work surface, terra/red doors, hobs, an oven, microwave, fridge, deep-freeze and a washing machine. The cupboard with glass doors is filled with earthenware and crockery.

On the other side of the living room there is a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The colours are all co-ordinated withh the white marble floor.

This bedroom gives access, through French windows, to the lower patio.

The marble stairs lead to the first floor. The blue Azuleta wall flows into a predominately blue bedroom. Here too, the walls have been dry-grouted by hand, creating a playful interplay of colours. This bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom.

This room has a large patio door that affords a view of the rising sun welcoming you to each new day.

A roof garden made for pleasure. We have created an intimate roof garden adjoining the blue bedroom. Surrounded by palm trees, this is a superb spot from which to take in the fabulous views of the sea and mountains. To enjoy your first coffee or tea of the day as the sun rises, like a golden globe, from out of the sea.

And, if the sun gets too hot, this roof garden has a cool secret. There is an extra little alcove .... well, I'm not going to give everything away, but it is an extremely private, peaceful and calm spot to be.

The patio leads you into the Moorish rest house, where you will find a large relaxation area. The light from a small turret throw a diffused light that accentuates the blue dry-grouted Azuleta walls. The house is wonderfully soothing. For example when you don't feel like going to the beach it is a space in which you can surrender yourself completely to relaxation and simply enjoy whatever happens. The hand-made lighting and large candlesticks create an extremely pleasant atmosphere in which all your worries seem to simply evaporate. A nice drink, good company, beautiful music and your comfort is complete.
